NBA legend Derrick Rose is set to make his first visit to Cebu as he headlines “Rose Meets the Queen: Derrick Rose in Cebu,” a two-day basketball celebration culminating on August 26 at SM Seaside City Cebu.
The former Chicago Bulls star and 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player will be making his third trip to the Philippines as an ArenaPlus brand ambassador, but the upcoming event will mark his first appearance in the Queen City of the South, a province widely known for its strong basketball culture.
Activities begin on August 25 with an exclusive Champion’s Circle Appreciation Dinner, where select ArenaPlus players will have the opportunity to meet Rose in a more intimate setting.
The main public event will take place the following day at SM Seaside City Cebu. Starting at 11:00 a.m., fans can take part in a full day of basketball-related activities, giveaways, and live entertainment. Admission is free for guests aged 21 and above.
ArenaPlus said bringing Rose to Cebu is part of its effort to make major sports experiences more accessible to fans outside Metro Manila and strengthen its engagement with basketball communities across the country.
“That’s why we want to bring experiences like this closer to fans across the country, not just in Metro Manila,” said ArenaPlus Head Ethan William.
“Cebu has an incredible passion for basketball, and bringing Derrick here is one way for us to celebrate that community and give Cebuano fans an experience they can call their own,” he added.
The two-day celebration will also feature a live performance by Filipino artist Skusta Clee, combining basketball and music for the event’s closing festivities.
With Rose’s first Cebu appearance drawing closer, ArenaPlus expects the event to attract basketball fans eager to see one of the NBA’s most recognizable former stars up close.
